This week I hit three months since I left the U.S. It still feels weird saying that. This weekend, I will be leaving for assignment to Djibouti, Africa and will return the first weekend in January. Yes, they have internet there, but it will be spotty at best. So this will be my last post until I return.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. Thanks for reading. See you in 2014.

– 30 Day photo challenge
I like gadgets. Recently, I purchased a GoPro Hero 3 Black and my first video shot is my villa video! Finally! So here it is. A little rough cut, but I plan on making more videos and will get better. Enjoy. Click here for the link in case the below does not work.
Tree Lighting Ceremony
The base had a tree lighting ceremony this week which was pretty fun. Being overseas is different. Many people are away from their families, but the families that are here become really close. Families have only been allowed to accompany active duty members for the past few years and the base tries to make things feel like home. I was asked to play Santa for the base, but because I am being assigned to Djibouti, I had to back out. Lame, maybe, but I felt it would be pretty cool to see the kids and bring a part of that for the families here. And it would make Christmas fun for me too. Of course I got some good photos of the tree and the camel they had.
30 Day Photo Challenge
In November, a photographer friend from Seattle and I decided that we needed to get inspired to take pictures. So we decided to do a 30 day photo challenge. We had a list of different things each day we needed to photos of and then posted them. It was a lot of fund and inspiring. I look forward to do it again and hope that you all will join us. Below are my submissions.
